How Do You Spend Your Food Dollars?

Everyone has a food budget.  Whether you sit down each week or month and formally plan what you will spend on food or you just know how much you want or need to spend to feed your family, there is a certain dollar amount you spend each month on eating.  This can include the coffee you get each morning at the local coffee shop, the lunches you eat out at work or the groceries you buy each month.

According to the San Diego 5 A Day Campaign, Americans eat out 4-5 times a week.  This can be the burger you grab for lunch or the dinner date you have on a Saturday night.  When you are deciding how to spend your food dollars, do you think about having a nice dinner at home with your family?  Relaxing around your table with the aroma of dinner in the oven?  Or entertaining friends with a cook-out in the backyard from dinner hot off the grill?  Often people do not cook at home due to the lack of time or experience.  Planning menus, going grocery shopping, prepping and cooking take a great deal of time and effort.  Sometimes it is easier to get fast food than to plan in advance to have that great meal at home.

Entrees4U in Raleigh, makes the planning, shopping and prepping easy.  We do all of that for you and all you have to do is take home our meals and pop them in the oven, on the grill or stove top for a quick and easy, healthy meal, "homemade in our kitchen and cooked in yours"!  And we are less expensive than the supermarket.

Visit our website at http://www.entrees4u.com/ to see what we have to offer as a way to spend your food dollars this week.

Weekly Meal Planning

What is the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning?  If you are like me, it is probably something to do with "What's for Dinner?"  In my house, dinner is my responsibility and as a busy wife and mother, it can be very stressful to put an appetizing, healthy meal on the table.

One way to solve this problem is to have a weekly or monthly meal plan.  An easy way to do this is to scour the internet, cookbooks and magazines and find recipes that may appeal to your family.  You can check in the pantry and see what ingredients are already available and build your meals that way.  Think of the kind of meals your family likes and the ways you can spruce them up to make meal time more fun.

Another way to easily plan weekly or monthly meals is to use a meal preparation kitchen like Entrees4U in Raleigh, NC.  Entrees4U offers 14 different entrees every month using chicken, beef, pork, seafood and vegetarian options.  We are also able to accomodate people who are gluten free.  In addition to our entrees, we offer appetizers, sides, desserts, fresh salads, soups and even breakfast items.

Money saving packages are available.  Since all of our food is designed to be frozen, thawed and cooked, you are able to fill your freezer for a very reasonable amount.  Everything is packaged in disposable containers and contain labels with cooking instructions.  Even the kids can start dinner before you get home from work.  Or, you can put your food in the oven and enjoy a nice beverage to relax while it is cooking.  And clean-up is a breeze.

What am I having for dinner tonight?  I will be enjoying Pesto Parmesan Chicken and Harvest Corn Casserole.  Tomorrow night is Chimichurri Flank Steak with Twice Baked Potatoes and later this week, I will be having our newest entree:  Vegetarian Black Bean Burritos.

Alicia's Story

Alicia has been battling cancer for a number of years.  A single mother with a 12 year old son, Alicia works full time and receives chemotherapy once a week.  Her co-workers drive her to her treatments and stay with her when they can, to keep her company.

Her friends and co-workers wanted to be able to do more for her.  They knew that when Alicia was done with a long day of work, she had no energy to make healthy, nutritious dinners for her and her son, but in order for her to keep up her strength, she needed to be eating.  One of her co-workers contacted Entrees4U to see if we could help Alicia with easy meal preparation, so she could concentrate on rest and recovery.

Alicia has a standing account with Entrees4U.  Friends, family and co-workers call and add money to her account so she can purchase meals each month.  She usually purchases a 6 entree regular package along with some sides and desserts.  Entrees4U then delivers them to her at work once a month.  The meals are easy enough that her son can prepare them and clean up is a breeze since everything is packaged in disposable containers. And she is able to feed her son delicious food in the comfort of their own home.  His favorite is Pesto Parmesan Chicken and we even make it for her when it is not on our monthly menu.

Entrees4U is happy to be able to help Alicia and others like her.  We love visiting with her each month and catching up.  And we are glad to be able to make her life a little easier.
